- The Union Cabinet has approved the draft amendments to the Right to Information (RTI) Act. This amendment will nullify an order of the Central Information Commission (CIC) which sought to bring 6 national political parties under the act.
- The Central Government has rejected the demand of complete autonomy by CBI in the Supreme Court.
- Arundhati Bhattacharya has been appointed as the Managing Director of the State of Bank of India (SBI).
- The Chief Economic Advisor of India, Raghuram Rajan has been appointed as the new Governor of the Reserve Bank of India. He succeeded Dr. D. Subbarao.
