- Central Government has launched a placement-oriented skill development scheme, named ‘Roshni’. This scheme will target 50000 rural youth in the country’s 24 most Naxalism-affected districts.
- In Karnataka Legislative Assembly election, Congress won with 121 seats out of 224 seats.
- Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang visited India. India and China signed MoUs covering such area as pharmaceutical, buffalo meat and fisheries.
- Union Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal and Union Surface Transport Minister C.P. Joshi got additional charge of LAW and Railway portfolio respectively after resigning of Ashwani Kumar and Pawan Bansal.
