  • Jo Pavey of Britain, 40 years old and mother of two , has become the oldest woman runner to claim a Gold at the European championship in Zurich, winning the 10,000m.
  • The BCCI has appointed former Test all-rounder Ravi Shastri the Director of Cricket in the India team for the five-match ODI series against England.
  • Seven-time national championship Poulomi Ghatak has won the women’s singles at 44th All India inter-institutional table tennis championship held in New Delhi.
  • P.V. Sindhu has become the 1st Indian to win two World Championship medals by defeating All-England champ Shixian Wang to enter the semifinals of Badminton World Championships in Denmark.
  • India has suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Pakistan in their second and the final under-23 friendly match at the Football Stadium in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
