SBI may slow recruiting PO/Clerk/SO in next 2-3 years

A very bad news to all bank aspirants! State Bank of India, the largest public sector bank in India, may slow down recruitment of staffs in its organization in upcoming 2-3 years. Managing Director of SBI, Mr. A. Krishna Kumar said that SBI will try to maintain the strength of employees. Although a big number of employees retire every year from different levels (clerk, PO, SO etc.) and to fill these vacant posts, they recruit staffs in each year.

sbi recruitment newsAt present, there are around 2.23 lakh employees currently working in SBI. They don't want to change this current figure. The employees strength may fall to 2.2 lakh by March, 2014. So they will try to keep this constant figure between 2.2 to 2.23 lakh over next few years. They don't want to increase staff so much now as its productivity and expenses will become an issue. As per SBI officials, the head count reduced by 5000 between March and December 2013. Now they have decided to slow down the recruitment process in between 2014-2016.

It's really a very very sad news to all aspirants who are waiting for upcoming SBI clerk/PO vacancies. Although this does not mean that there will be no vacancies in upcoming years in SBI, it means the number of recruitment vacancies may be decreased compared to previous years. SBI announced in 2008 that they will recruit 60000 staffs in the years 2008-2011 and almost the same vacant were filled. The last SBI clerk recruitment vacancies were published in 2012 for around 11000 posts and 1500 PO vacancies were in January, 2013, the recruitment process was completed. Now aspirants will have to wait for further notification.
